Are Necros and Mesmers the scourge of Tyria?
I was noticing that most people hate necros (or so it seems). Very few actually accept them into a party. The same seems to be true of mesmers. I must either be in the wrong place or something?
Besides minion abilities, from what I've read, Necros have some of the best status inflecting abilities. Mesmers are great for Domination magic and inspiration magic keeps them going. Despite this, I have talked to a few friends who're are also either Me or N and they seem to have the same issues with getting into parties (even when they're at or 1 lvl below the highest in the party). Thoughts? |

This has been discussed way too much. But anyways, yes, they're usually left out by the common PUG who looks for the "Tanks" "Nukers" and "Healers" only. Rangers are left out as well. Flaw in the game i guess.

Sorry... I didn't see any other topics concerning this.
I've found rangers very useful since arrows are fairly strong and good distance attacks. Then I usually take an Me (hench) with me (if I can't find a player Me) to balance out the group. Truth is that you'll get further with a balanced team than if you ignore certain classes (from what I've seen). Though I'm almost lvl 16, I won't pretend to know everything, so I may be wrong. |

I've done some gaming with a Nerco and Mesmer. I'll take one of them over a Warrior anyday. I will also choose a Ranger over a Warrior. Brawn isn't everything people.

If a mes or necro want 2 join my party i tend 2 accept them. They r both very useful porfessions 2 have in a party as both r very versatile and have some of the best skills in the game. However I think the main reason for necros and mesmers being shuned 2 one side is the fact that if u get a noob playing either profession then it can be disasterus while this isn't so much the case with other professions as they seem 2 be more noob feindly.

I like both on my teams, perhaps because I've played both and know what they are capable of? Perhaps the problem is the lack of visible results. The warriors attack and that is obvious, the elems throw magic around, the rangers shoot their arrows. Blood nukes and mesmer spells are for the most part unseen so it may not seem to the team like they are contributing.
If you hate the enemy necros and mesmers like I do then you would think more people would want one on their team! |

I'd say using Rotting flesh is pretty visible (and bone creatures). But with Me, there generally isn't a noticable. I tend to use wells alot (either blood or I just gained suffering).
Oh well... I guess it's a lack of foresight on some people's behalf. |

I have a necro/warrior (Sabrina Blood), who is a great asset to any team. Not only do I have access to the best warrior skill but I always use horrors to assist me, making my party larger and more powerful.
I simply can't understand why anyone would not want a necro around. In fact I've got up to Gates of Kryta with just henchies so far without any problems. |

Necros, Mesmers, and Rangers are largely over looked by anyone who has not played one of these roles. I started the game as a Ranger and because of that I have learned the importance of the different classes. People need to start looking into making well rounded groups.

I love my necro...playing at MM at the moment and having a blast..she's lvl 18 now and at sanctum clay...all the way with henchies with little or no problems. Interestingly though she has never had an invite to group....while my little monk (lvl 5 so still a baby) can't visit a town without a list of unwanted invites. Silly thing is I know my necro..we have grown together, we might not do it the way others might, but we do it and win, and have fun too My monk on the other hand is a mystery to me still...... so far we survive, but I am not sure why yet. Even when I point this out to those who invite me, making sure they know that I don't understand my role and how to play it yet, they still want me. I have heal and thats all they seem to care about...lol. My point is that the groups that would prefer my silly uneducated monk are probably the sames ones who wouldn't invite my necro and in my mind, it is they who are unenlightened and ulimately the losers At the end of the day I am here to have fun...and so I never worry about it. When I find the right guild, with a mature attitude I will join and have fun with people but untill then it's me and the henchies. (they ain't as dumb as some make out..and certainainly not as dumb as some players I have met...*grins evilly* |

Ethrin Starseeker Ominor Blackstaff Or ping me if you get stuck in the upcoming missions, I'll come help if not already doing a mission with guildies. And the game is much more fun with real people (no offense to the henchies intended!) [edit] Just noticed your "sig" that you are in England. We have people all over, US, Canada, UK, Israel, Germany, Australia. Last edited by DeanBB; Nov 28, 2005 at 10:25 PM // 22:25.. |

Hulk Smash doesn't support Rangers, Mesmers, and Necromancers.
That would be - 2 Monks, 4 Warriors, 2 Elementalist groups. Hulk Smash just steam rolls most PvE missions because Mobs...are just weak strategy wise compared to humans in PvP. When in PvE do you have to mass interupt casters? never...When in PvE do you need enchantment stripping? never... Get the string here? In PvE..you just don't "need" Mesmers, Rangers, and Necromancers...Yea..in Many cases they'd work twice as good as the trio..But people just want to steam roll the mission and who are the outposts full of? Warriors.. In contrast..Who are the big PvP classes? Necros...Mesmers...Rangers.. |

Blood is Power is a very useful skill (also blood ritual, well of blood, etc) especially if you are in a nuke group that uses alot of energy. Also necros are useful for Iway teams in pvp.

Necros seem to be required a lot in later PvE, and many groups ask for Necros in their SF farming groups, as well as in UW or FoW.
Mesmers are hard as hell to level. If i am helping a guildie through co-ops and see a mesmer or ranger hanging around, unable to get a group, I always invite them along for the ride; having completed the game with both these classes, I appreciate the difficulty one has in being accepted into groups. |

Ilike mesmer, necro, and rangers, i will allow them to join my group always,i never take more than 1war. in pve that is all you need!
Kinda off topic: I bet my ranger can do more damage per sec than a warrior could do with any warrior elite skill,(pure warrior no sec.) i am a pure ranger no 2nd profession. Im sure this has been provin be4, lets find out? Humbly, ign Maximus Aragonist (R) Maximus Aragon (W) |

I've noticed that the hate or w/e you want to call it towards necros rangers and mesmers is getting to be less and less. Last night I was doing the Ring of Fire mission and 2 people left (a ranger and warrior) leaving my mesmer, a necro, and 2 warriors, along with the 2 healing henchmen. We went the back way, so lots of casters. Well, needless to say I think I got complements from everyone in shutting down almost every caster using Migrane and Arcane Conundrum, then throwing in a Guilt and Diversion. Those annoying little lava imps were just sooo cute...when they weren't nuking our brains out.
